everyone. Welcome to a new episode of Bose's Slow English. In today's episode, we are

exploring Boston, Massachusetts. Take a look. We are

Massachusetts. Take a look. We are

crossing the bridge. The hotel that we are staying at

bridge. The hotel that we are staying at is over here.

I've never been to this city before, so I am excited to explore with

you. If we haven't met before, my name

you. If we haven't met before, my name is B. Hi.

many videos every week and please give me a like to show your support which keeps me

motivated. We have

motivated. We have a short itinerary for

today. Right now we are heading to

today. Right now we are heading to Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail.

Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail.

What is the Freedom Trail?

It's just a historical walk where we could see a lot of history that took place in Boston.

That was some great new vocabulary.

There is a lot of US history in this city and I'm excited to learn all about

it. It is extremely windy

it. It is extremely windy today. Another way to describe windy is

today. Another way to describe windy is breezy or chilly. And hopefully the wind will die

chilly. And hopefully the wind will die down by tomorrow because tomorrow is the Boston

Marathon and we are here in Boston to support my friend. And I

friend. And I understand now how detrimental it would be if the wind was

strong when running the marathon. Do you know the word

marathon. Do you know the word detrimental? It's kind of a serious

detrimental? It's kind of a serious word. So maybe I shouldn't have used

word. So maybe I shouldn't have used that word, but all that means is it's not a good thing. It is

April and there is a saying, April showers bring May flowers.

What that means is usually in April it's it's supposed to rain a lot

but then in May a lot of flowers will bloom but luckily while we are on

vacation it will not be raining too much. What I really love about the East

much. What I really love about the East Coast is the various

seasons. We have winter, spring, summer,

seasons. We have winter, spring, summer, and fall. And where I currently live in Los

fall. And where I currently live in Los Angeles, it's basically

just a light summer all the time. So, I

miss having four seasons. When I

travel, I tend to walk a lot. Well, a lot for me, which is maybe

lot. Well, a lot for me, which is maybe around 12,000 steps

to 18,000 steps per day.

Sometimes I will rent a bike if we have to get far and if I don't want to spend

money on a cab. This morning we decided to not go to breakfast because we were already running

late. Do you know the term running late?

late. Do you know the term running late?

It means that we're just late. I'm not sure where the term running late came from, but it

just simply means that we're late.

Instead of eating breakfast, we ordered some hot tea at a

local tea shop and also purchased a croissant from a local

bakery. I also had brought some snacks

bakery. I also had brought some snacks from home, so that was enough for me. We

will probably have a nice lunch. There's my husband straight

lunch. There's my husband straight ahead. Say

ahead. Say hi. I don't know where he's running to.

hi. I don't know where he's running to.

I think he's testing out his new bouncy Adidas.

The first thing that I notice about Boston is it's more diverse than I had

anticipated. Diverse means many groups

anticipated. Diverse means many groups of people. It's also

of people. It's also a very clean

city and you can tell by the architecture how historical it

is. My husband loves

is. My husband loves baseball and he said that he can't come

to Boston without seeing Fenway. I guess it's a famous baseball

Fenway. I guess it's a famous baseball stadium. Let me know in the comments if

stadium. Let me know in the comments if you love baseball.

Growing up, I was not a huge fan of baseball because every time I went to a baseball game where I'm from in

Baltimore, Maryland, they always lost.

However, I did play softball with my old church league. I was very young and I

church league. I was very young and I did a pretty good job at catching the ball. Do you hear the church

ball. Do you hear the church bells? Today is

bells? Today is Easter. We are getting closer to the

Easter. We are getting closer to the church bells. So, the church must be

church bells. So, the church must be right around the corner.

I hope you can hear me. I'm very close to the church with the ringing bells. We are going to be wrapping

bells. We are going to be wrapping around a nice park. I wonder how old this water

park. I wonder how old this water fountain is. It has no water in it.

is. It has no water in it.

People are enjoying the weather today even though it's windy, but I think the locals are probably used to

that there are no leaves on the trees.

Do you remember from one of my previous videos what you call these kind of

trees? They are called deciduous trees.

trees? They are called deciduous trees.

That's a difficult or I should say advanced word.

[Music] Deciduous. If we would have come here in

Deciduous. If we would have come here in a month from now, there would probably be some beautiful leaves on these

trees. Boston is also known to have top

trees. Boston is also known to have top Ivy League universities such as Harvard.

I wish in Los Angeles we had parks like

this. This park reminds me of New York.

this. This park reminds me of New York.

Los Angeles or LA is very spread out and there is this one

park where there's many many trees planted there but it takes about 30 to

40 minutes to drive there and also you have to pay to get in. It is not a public

park. With that said, LA has a lot of

park. With that said, LA has a lot of great scenery and I am grateful for that. I

just wish that it was surrounded by more trees. Look at that sculpture over

trees. Look at that sculpture over there. That's cool.

there. That's cool.

Do you know the sport that they are playing? This is pickle

playing? This is pickle ball. And at first glance, it looks like

ball. And at first glance, it looks like a mini version of tennis

and a large version of pingpong. So if

tennis and pingpong got married, that's pickle ball.

And these people over here are playing tennis. They're really

tennis. They're really good. We have some people over here

good. We have some people over here playing baseball or actually they're playing catch, which is where you throw

the ball back and forth. The wind just died down. It's

forth. The wind just died down. It's

really pleasant when the wind is not blowing me

over. We are now in Boston Common. It is

over. We are now in Boston Common. It is

the oldest public park in the United States. Isn't it

States. Isn't it beautiful? I love the smell of nature.

beautiful? I love the smell of nature.

These are beautiful pine trees. Many people are out enjoying a

trees. Many people are out enjoying a book or having a

picnic. I accidentally did not have the

picnic. I accidentally did not have the gimbal centered, so I have no idea if

the video for the past 5 minutes looks good. If you don't know what a gimbal

good. If you don't know what a gimbal is it's the controller for the camera that keeps

the video centered. There are a lot of dogs

centered. There are a lot of dogs walking around also enjoying this weather. Oh,

take a look at this. This is a goose, right? What do you call multiple

right? What do you call multiple goosees? I'll give you a clue. It's not

goosees? I'll give you a clue. It's not

goosees. It's

geese. They must be used to being around a lot of people because they are not afraid when we come

close. That's a cool

close. That's a cool canoe. Like about a girl.

canoe. Like about a girl.

transportation that is propelled by someone cycling on the back. So, it's

like a hydro bike canoe. This tree I bet is very old and I

canoe. This tree I bet is very old and I wish I could climb it. We have some more geese in the

it. We have some more geese in the water.

Excuse me. I just

sneezed. By the way, the most polite thing to do when someone sneezes is you tell them

bless you. Or if you say it quickly,

bless you. Or if you say it quickly, it's bless you. And if you

you. And if you sneeze, the most polite thing to say is excuse me. Excuse

excuse me. Excuse me. I love these

me. I love these trees that have the willow type leaves. That girl's so cute in her

leaves. That girl's so cute in her Easter outfit. Here's another view of the

outfit. Here's another view of the park. I wish you could smell the nature

park. I wish you could smell the nature out here with me. It smells really clean. I do see

clean. I do see some flowers shedding off of the trees and

perhaps that's why I sneezed because my body is no longer used to this type of

pollen. Where are we going now?

pollen. Where are we going now?

Newberry Street. Shopping. We're going

shopping.

to Newberry Street. What kind of shops are in on

Street. What kind of shops are in on Newberry Street?

They said luxury shopping.

I'm not sure.

We're about to be surprised. We are crossing the

surprised. We are crossing the crosswalk and look, we have Hermes fancy store. Do you know this

brand? Their

brand? Their purses probably start at $7,000 or maybe even start at

$10,000, which is crazy. I love this brand. It's Bayga Vanetta. It's an

brand. It's Bayga Vanetta. It's an

Italian brand.

So, we must be on that shopping street that we were trying to get

to. I will be doing only window shopping

to. I will be doing only window shopping on the street. Do you know the term window

shopping? It means that you will not

shopping? It means that you will not physically go into the store. You will

shop with just your eyes from the outside. Oh, here we are. Bandit. My

outside. Oh, here we are. Bandit. My

husband must already be in there and it's really busy. Wow. Excuse

me. It's popping in here, which is a casual term for it's really busy.

Poppin is short for hopping. They have running

hopping. They have running gear specifically for the Boston Marathon. So, that's pretty

Marathon. So, that's pretty cool. They

cool. They have shorts tank tops, sports bras,

hats, socks shoes.

This brand of shoe is AS6. And that's what I'm wearing.

AS6. And that's what I'm wearing.

AS6. AS6 are my favorite. They're very

comfortable. Did you notice how when I said comfortable, I did not pronounce it as comfortable. It's comfortable. I like

as comfortable. It's comfortable. I like

this hat that says spectator.

Do you know what that is? A spectator is like an audience member watching. And I think this was made

watching. And I think this was made specifically for the Boston Marathon supporters. I bought a

supporters. I bought a hat. It

hat. It is I knew it. This is exactly why I did not bring my hat from the hotel because

I thought the wind would blow it over.

And look what just happened. I need to make sure that it's really snug on my head. Do you know what snug means? It

head. Do you know what snug means? It

means tight.

We decided to eat at this maybe vegan spot. Um, let's see if we can get a

spot. Um, let's see if we can get a menu. Can you grab a

menu. Can you grab a menu? We received our hot beverage which

menu? We received our hot beverage which has fresh lemon, fresh

uh ginger and honey. This is a hot drink. And we also got the watermelon

drink. And we also got the watermelon cooler which has watermelon, cardamom, and

mint. We just received our food. I got

mint. We just received our food. I got

the BB bowl, which is a Korean style dish. And my husband got a Buddha bowl,

dish. And my husband got a Buddha bowl, which has a ton of vegetables and

grains. I'm very full. It was a very

grains. I'm very full. It was a very filling meal. Have you heard of that

filling meal. Have you heard of that term filling?

We are now on our way to the train station to head to the baseball stadium.

The train station was very easy to find. Here we are. We're heading down.

find. Here we are. We're heading down.

I love taking trains and using public transportation. I get nauseous when I

transportation. I get nauseous when I ride cabs and Ubers because

it requires me to sit in the back seat and the motion of the car makes me feel very sick and nauseous.

I wonder how old this train station is. We are taking the green

is. We are taking the green line. And we have to

line. And we have to find where to buy the ticket. Oh, here

it is.

We need a round trip ticket which means we need to get to the destination and to come

back. So for this kiosk it requires for

back. So for this kiosk it requires for you to purchase one ticket at a time. So

we will need to repeat this process. He is tapping to pay.

process. He is tapping to pay.

The ticket is printing. We do not want a

printing. We do not want a receipt. And it asked if we'd like to

receipt. And it asked if we'd like to purchase another ticket. So, he is going through the

ticket. So, he is going through the process one more time. And here is what the ticket looks

time. And here is what the ticket looks like. Here we

like. Here we go. Here we are.

go. Here we are.

Arlington and we need to take it down the T to the D. We asked one of the workers

D. We asked one of the workers here which way to go and let's see if we can catch this

train.

No, we missed it. That's okay. We will

catch the next one.
