TLDDW, too long didn't watch, is a side project that I shared with a few friends to help you learn from long YouTube videos faster. Now, I'll show you how.

videos faster. Now, I'll show you how.

For example, if I want to watch this 1-hour long podcast interview, I can just copy the link and paste it here and it's going to parse the video transcript for me. So, on the left is

the video player, which I can watch the original video, and on the right is the entire transcript of the video. And down

here you can see we actually use a large language model to parse the transcript and pick out the highlight reels for you. So you can quickly take a look at

you. So you can quickly take a look at what are the highlights from the video.

For example, if I'm interested in this point before launching, we caught 50% of our features. That sounds interesting.

our features. That sounds interesting.

I'm going to click on it.

>> And we kept adding things and >> and the video is going to play starting from this timestamp. So in this way, you can quickly navigate the video to see what are the most interesting segments.

And this can also be customized. Let's

say I'm interested in product simplicity. I can click on that topic.

simplicity. I can click on that topic.

Then it's going to generate highlight reels just related to this topic. And

you can even put in your own topic.

Let's say I'm interested in product design. I can type in the topic and it's

design. I can type in the topic and it's going to pull out all the segments related to product design. I can quickly jump to that part. The other thing is sometimes when you listen to a speaker and you really want to take notes, maybe

they said something that's really memorable to you and you want to share it or put it in your notebook. For

example, I really like this line. You

can just select it in the transcript and then hit take notes. And then you might notice that this is quite messy. Like a

lot of transcripts come with this filler words like um uh or and sometimes there are transcription errors. So we have this handy feature called enhance with AI. If you click it and AI is going to

AI. If you click it and AI is going to remove all the filler words and then make a really clean quote which you can then add your own takeaways to and then with one click you can save it

to your notebook. So, uh, here you have a third tab called notes. This is where you'll be able to see your previous notes. Sometimes when you're listening

notes. Sometimes when you're listening to technical talks, they might mention terms or jargon that you may not understand. So, we also have a very

understand. So, we also have a very handy explain feature. For example, this phrase, I can just select it and hit explain and it's going to explain the term within the context of this

interview. Before this, I used to copy

interview. Before this, I used to copy and paste the term into chajbt or Google to ask it to explain. But then chibt and Google doesn't have the full context of the video I'm watching. Whereas the AI

chat in TLDW has the full context of the video transcript. So it's able to

video transcript. So it's able to explain the term in context. As you can see, we have a chat tab where you can actually ask questions for the transcript. So for example, you can ask

transcript. So for example, you can ask what are the key takeaways. And what's

nice about the answer is that it comes with timestamps. So, you're able to

with timestamps. So, you're able to quickly >> jump to this part of the video which addresses this point. We also have a bunch of suggested questions that help you figure out what to ask. For example,

this question. You're also able to save these answers in your notes with one click. Recently, we added a new feature

click. Recently, we added a new feature called generated image. If you click generate cheat sheet image, uh you're able to select the dimension. Let's say

I want to share an image on Twitter summarizing the takeaways from this video. I'm going to select square and

video. I'm going to select square and then select one of the styles and then generate. This is actually connected to

generate. This is actually connected to the Nano Banana Pro API. So, we're

basically passing the entire video transcript into Nano Banana Pro which is super good at generating these beautiful infographics summarizing dense information.

And here it is. It's a really nice infographic summarizing the key takeaways from this video which I can then share on social media. A lot of our users are not English native speakers or learning English as a second language.

So this translation feature is also very useful. Let's say you speak Chinese, but

useful. Let's say you speak Chinese, but you want to watch this English video.

You can just hover over transcript and then select Chinese. You're basically

able to view the transcript in a bilingual view with the original English and the Chinese translation side by side. If you want to export the

side. If you want to export the transcript, you can also do that. Some

people prefer to export it and then pass it to a LLM of their choice to further study. So you can just hit export and

study. So you can just hit export and you're able to choose between TXT, SRT or CSV and also include the timestamps and you can download the file with one click. All the videos that you watch

click. All the videos that you watch here are saved under the video tab. So

click on your profile and then videos.

This is where you see all the past videos that you have watched here. All

your notes are also saved in one place.

So if you go to your profile and then click notes, this is where you can access all your past notes. So this is TLDDW. Give it a try and let me know

TLDDW. Give it a try and let me know what you think. and we're constantly looking to improve it. So, please send me your feedback. If looking for a YouTube video is too time consuming, you can also click I'm feeling lucky and this will basically parse a video that

someone else already par. So, you don't need to find a link or wait for it. This

is an open source project. You can check out the GitHub here or if you click on about us, you can see our contact info.

Feel free to reach out if you have feedback or questions.
