we are going to show you the best things to do in kyua Kaa and this is unique we are sticking just to kyua Kaa town now the greater Kona District area Kona spans like two-thirds of the aisle check

out our other videos for things to do in Kona for this one it's just kyua Kona just the best things hi I'm Jordan and I'm Erica and this is the Hawaii vacation guide

[Music] how about an Outrigger Canoe ride you can leave right here right Central kyua

Kaa in front of the Marriott and then you can head out on a nice quick I think like 1 hour outre your canoe ride it's a lot of fun you just get out on the water you can see sea turtles sometimes

spinner dolphins Jordan did this with his parents and Henry um I didn't get to go I've done other Al canoe rides but they had a lot of fun here kamakahonu national landmark right

here historical place this is where King kameha Mayha the great lived and died this was his kingdom this like the headquarters of the Kingdom right here in Kyu aona and this whole area was like

they had residences on it and government offices even had a fort in 1820s so it's nice to see that they made it into a national historical landmark so there's a lot of historical places do and see here in kyuk Kona so we'll show you two

other ones right now this is the oldest church in Hawaii the missionaries originally landed here kamaka honu to ask the king for permission to preach here in the islands

he Grant permission and they built this church here and then another group of missionaries headed up to Honolulu so this is the oldest church has a lot of cool history to it they do offer tours

on Sundays and guess this there's a ghost tour that stops by here and the ghost tour talks about this church and some cool stories around it click the link down below learn about the ghost tour but they originally tore down a Hao

or a Hawaiian Temple to build the foundation of the church and then the top was made out of like you know wood traditional Hawaiian style building but that burned down and they've rebuilt it and I got admit a lot of this is original most of it is made with coral

so interesting Church little bit of missionary history down here in [Music] Hawaii this is original Palace one of the only palaces on American soil it is

this an Iolani Palace this Palace was built in 1838 and it was there like a summer house or a house for a Royal Hawaiian part of the Royal Hawaiian Kingdom it

was taken over by the daughters of Hawaii and they offer dosent Le Tours Wednesday through Saturday now is a very cool building it is made from lava rock which is still in the foundation of the

building down below anyways if you're here in kyou aona I recommend checking in both these historic places the church and the palace right across the street from each other oh and I forgot the ghost tour and a walking tour that we

have a link down below we'll give you more information on the palace which is just a lot of fun I like ghost tours especially when they're by local guide and this is a fun way to learn more about the city

[Music] let's talk beaches in Kyu aona right behind me is the kamaka honu beach this is a great Beach cuz it's right in front of the myia it's a great cve well

protected CU you got the pier on one side plus it's already a bay it is a fun beach to go to even on a rainy day like this the kids are outside playing on the south side of town you have honel Beach

get this the boogie board was in Van honel Beach so it's a fun beach to go that one gets a little more of a shore break on it hence the bodyboarding both beaches have bathrooms and showers make it really nice but our favorite beach

for kids especially is right around the corner so we'll show you that one next oh let me it'll just go this way so this is the beach where we're talking about we like this beach a lot

it is at the Aquatic Center or the old airport old Kona Airport so park at the Aquatic Center walk across the baseball field you see a public access drive right on kuo drive and then you come out

to this amazing little place is a great pool they call the kakei beach or kids beach or Queen's Bath and it has tide pools here has lava rock formations great place for beginnner snorkelers and

for little kids to play in the surf so this is a nice place to come right by kyou aona parking let's talk about that since you're visiting K cona with all these things to do parking is expensive

here they have a lot of parking lots but they all cost a lot of money so check the kiosk machine see how much they are but they're all Prett expensive even by the farmers market but at least there's ample parking here if you it's a great

City for walking let me just say that you can park and walk all over and check out a lot of these things to do they also have those bikes that you can rent like in the big cities like London and Paris and New York and San Francisco you can run the bikes and hop around too so

it's really easy to get around but still parking it's going to get you hat tip tacona 360 for pointing out how much like parking lots have increased in price around here all right under cool stuff to

[Music] do go to Al luau so here we are at Al luau right in central kakona so this is a beautiful luau it's usually like out

kind of beach front and in a very sacred historical place but we're we're in a ballroom right now because it got rained out but normally it's beautiful out there but you can go to a luau have some

great Hawaiian food see some entertainment from some excellent dancers and musicians and enjoy the night so this luau is at the king kameha Courtyard um you can click down below to

learn more about the Lua Shave Ice you're on the big island you need it ky's got lots of shave ice we're at oani is a mom and pop operation started at Maui but now theyve spread to

the Big Island I got admit it's really good it's really fluffy it's what shave iice is supposed to be and the best part is it's right here by the beach by cona boys in the Maria and the luau it is right here so enjoy and there's a lot of

other places in town too by the way hey since you're coming to the Big Island you definitely want to check out our website and our big island itinerary it takes you around the island on some great EXP Excursion day so you can see

the best sites eat at best places and we make your planning easy right so head to the hawaiivacation guide.com Aries to check them out another great thing to do

in kyona is go diving scuba diving yep you have Jack's diving Locker right behind me is loc rain Central kyua Kaa it's cool they even have a swimming pool here so you can practice right in the

tank before you go out in one of the boats help you with certification anyways there's a lot of cool dive shops right here in kyona [Music] you know you're in Hawaii you might as

well try to go surfing right get out there on the water there are surf lessons or surf inst structures right here in Kyu aona we have a link to it down below go out with the native Hawaiian and let him show you the ropes

it helps to just like get out there and give it a try don't be scared you'll have a lot of fun two things to do here in kukona these are tours you don't have to do a tour in kukon but these are fun for a lot of people especially if you're not a swimmer or a snorkler you have the

lantis submarine which you can see way out there we're going to show you footage we did it in lahina they're on three islands Oahu the big island in Maui the Maui one got destroyed but you can still come here and go down in the

Atlantis it's a real summar it's really cool there's also a glass bottom boat kyua glass bottom boat we have a link to it down below they leave from kyua Pier so it's super nice to go out on the glass bottom boat and explore kyua Bay

check those out if you don't want to get wet all right we are at the old Kona Airport Station State Recreation Area this place has a really nice walking trail to get around and get this is

built in World War II and is the first airport on the island it used to do a lot inner Island flights until 1970 so to best see it I'm going to fly over with a drone cuz it is a large area great for walking around there's a

playground there bathrooms restroom facilities if you're just looking to like walk around right off kyou aona then there's a nice place to come [Music] visit so in kyona there is plenty of

shopping take your pick but if you are looking to shop local maybe get something a little unique you need to be a little selective like going to Tasty kaona behind me it's all locally made

stuff there's also some cool surf shops so don't get discouraged if all if things feel like just a lot of like t-shirt shops you can find the gems in between we enjoy walk around kyou aona

downtown is a Charming town I must say though it gets criticized for feeling a little touristy and a little gritty also for all the years we've been coming here I feel like they've been doing a good job fixing it up es especially bringing

in a lot of local businesses like a lot of Western States they have their share of homelessness around here but we've always enjoyed ourselves down here in [Music]

[Applause] kakona so kyona does have a farmers market though I would say this is more Market than Farmers Market if you know what I mean it's more like knickknacks

and trinkets although they do have a little bit of food it's not where you're going to find like a lot of produce or pre-prepared food I'll be honest with you this is between you and me right

this this isn't our favorite place to go it's an option if you're here but maybe go a little bit south of town to the alite marketplace again it's not our favorite farmers market in all of Hawaii

but it has more stuff there so but if you're only going to kyua cona this is open from 7: to 4:00 Wednesday through Sunday and it's a very convenient option especially if you happen to come off the

cruise ship and you're in town or you're only in town for one day and you just want to see what this is all about it's here so kyou aona is popular for everyone visiting all these different types of people but the pride of America

cruise ship does come in every week so those are busy days those are Wednesdays so you'll see a lot of people out and about on our website we have a free guide for cruise travel passengers it is absolutely free I'll link to it down

below we also have great shore excursions to give you out of Kyu aona and check those out sometimes they're better price than what the cruise ship offers and better availability so check that out down below poana happy hour in

kyona is one of the best places on the Hawaiian Islands they relax grab a drink kakona faces the sunset we have a lovely sunset tonight as the cruise ship's departing Over the Horizon but you have

on the Rocks you have hugos you have Foster kitchen we're picking up Black Rock Pizza at night to just enjoy it over our vacation rental you got all these great places rank Kellon in the

downtown over here laot places Island Lava Java just enjoy yourself here with some good food relax enjoy that ocean give it yourself a my [Music] [Applause]

[Music] tie you probably don't have time on this trip to hit up the breweries but Kyon has some great breweries right the most famous one is Kona Brewing but our

favorite is Ola Brew they are wonderful Brewery they ship to all the islands so even a Mau we would find out the convenience stores all that this is the hazy light one they have really good food too check out and then there's of

course Kona Brewing and both of these are walkable from the downtown area Kona Brewing is famous is been around forever it's like one of the first ones so I give them a lot of respect they have food there but they also have really good food trucks there and then down the

road they have more food also so go check out those two breweries if you're in town and you're inclined to beer enjoy number 20 is just up the hill it is in kyou coras right off the Hawaii

Beltway is the Sadi seamour botanical gardens this place isn't the best Botanical Garden in Hawaii but I was very impressed with it it is an oasis up here in kyou aona it's got nice grasses

it's got nice Lawns to lay out on it has all those Hawaiian flowers that are just like that's one of the reasons why you come to Hawaii right to like experience that that Jungle Feeling and that tropical Essence so it's a very relaxing

place to come I enjoyed it oh best part it's free so there you go we hope these activities in koua Kona were extremely helpful for you we have more articles in the description below like things to do

in the greater Kona area aona guide all the activities you want to do all that good stuff plus we have a big island wayfinder I itinerary it is wonderful people absolutely love it it'll take you on Excursion days around the island this is one of our favorite Islands to visit

so make sure to check that out and
