Winning A Collector Box Of TLA Would Be A Hoot | Avatar The Last Airbender Sealed | MTG Arena Direct

By Paul Cheon

Summary

## Key takeaways - **Wan Shi Tong oozes value**: We open Wan Shi Tong again and build around it in blue-white for card draw potential, as it's the best card in the pile despite a weak pool. [01:18], [06:43] - **Weak pools demand curve-out decks**: With an underwhelming pool lacking deep rares or golds, lean into a functional curve with six two-mana creatures and removal to close games. [04:16], [04:28] - **Mulligan one-landers always**: Opponent keeps a one-lander and loses quickly; even with two-drops, one-landers need more than one land and are too risky unless deck is terrible. [11:06], [12:47] - **Sideboard into unblockable cheese**: After 2-1, cut flyers for Giant Koi and crashing wave to add unblockable threats and tempo, leaning into ally angle to cheese opponents. [34:27], [35:14] - **64% winrate yields 2/12 boxes**: Across 12 sealed runs at 64% winrate with finishes like 5-0, 5-2, 3-2, we won 2 collector boxes; it's a numbers game taking time. In the last video we did go five wins with a very solid deck with a ton of rares but we also ran into some pretty good decks and so we were unable to get there. We did get some of the gems back.

righty, here we go. New booster packs.

Going to be hard to beat what we had last time, but we'll see. Oh, only seven rares, but we open Wii Tong again.

Hopefully, we can play it. And we have two copies of M Scornful Striker.

Nothing insane. I mean, she's just fine.

Two mana, two two First Strike is always fine, but obviously in a control deck, it's not as good. South Pole Voyager is interesting. Iro Grand Lotus can be nice

interesting. Iro Grand Lotus can be nice in the right shell if we can get enough uh lessons. And then Spare Water Revival

uh lessons. And then Spare Water Revival is a fine card draw spell. All right.

Well, hopefully we can be blue. going to

be shocked if we don't end up in blue based off of those rares, but we'll see.

White actually looking pretty weak here.

I see.

What is that? Seven cards. Okay, well

that's not ideal. Eight cards if you count the sand bender storm. Blue has

octopus form double master pacu. I can't

say I'm the biggest fan of this card.

It's fine if you have a bunch of spells, but the blue seem okay. Couple of lost days and a wii tong. Okay, it's all right. It's all right. Let's see what

right. It's all right. Let's see what the other colors we're. We're going to be leaning on our multicolored cards here. I'm just going to say because

here. I'm just going to say because right now this is a somewhat weak start.

Double June, double May. Okay, those are fine. Two mana plays, but the rest of

fine. Two mana plays, but the rest of the black cards kind of stink. For red,

we have firebending lesson, some Borcupines, Twin Blades.

You know, I I'm just saying I'm just generally not a big fan of red in general. This looks like it's going to

general. This looks like it's going to be a pretty tough sealed deck. Um, this

is looking like one of those where, you know, you just you just kind of hope to get your gems back. We'll see. We'll see

what happens, though. Okay. Can't give

up yet until we actually build the decks. Unlucky cabbage merchant. Couple

decks. Unlucky cabbage merchant. Couple

of badgerals. Our green isn't looking that exciting. Air nomad legacy. I mean,

that exciting. Air nomad legacy. I mean,

if I'm blue white and I have enough flyers, I guess, but I don't see that many flyers. So, there's that.

many flyers. So, there's that.

Pretending pox bearers is a fine filler level two mana play. So if we need more playables that helps. Um DY agents can be cool. Double tsuki is nice. So we are

be cool. Double tsuki is nice. So we are seeing a bunch of white cards that are hybrid. So maybe there is some kind of

hybrid. So maybe there is some kind of proactive ally strategy that we can piece together to make this pool work.

Because I will say this does look a little bit underwhelming. Just like the commons and even the gold cards didn't look like it was there for us. But let's

sort this out and see what we have. You

know what the downside of playing this format while trying to watch it at the same time is? Uh you find out which bad guys turn into good guys based

on their creature type. So uh yeah. Well

anyways, let's go on. So again uh as I mentioned with the white, it didn't look super deep, but keep in mind pretending pox bears also counts as an ally. And

this at least like when your pool isn't very strong, what you want to what you want to lean into is the ability to just curve out and maybe utilize a handful of

removal spells to, you know, get creatures out of the way and close out games that way. So, I think that's kind of what I'm trying to look to do here based on what I have, right? I have a

functional curve. Look at this. I have

functional curve. Look at this. I have

six two mana creatures. That's great

with Suki, Earth Kingdom Soldier here as potential options. And then I can either

potential options. And then I can either choose to move into green and play something like the White Lotus Reinforcements or some other color combination here that allows me to just

have the best curve out possible. The

problem with my green cards is I feel like my white cards, two of my white cards, notably the South Pole of Voyager and the Avatar Enthusiast really encourages me to play a bunch of allies

and the green doesn't really help with that. So outside of the white lotus

that. So outside of the white lotus reinforcements like none of the floops flopsy rather is also a fine card. I think I'm just going to abandon green as a combination

because I am really interested in going aggro here with the white cards. Black

looks okay but nothing that special either. So

either. So like I don't think that's what I want to do here. I'm just going to put Suki here

do here. I'm just going to put Suki here on the left here as well to give me 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 white cards. And then

Earth Kingdom Soldier can also go here.

So that's 12. Kioshi Battle Fans also is an ally. So it's another two drop. June

an ally. So it's another two drop. June

Bounty Hunter is not an ally. So if I look at black, all that black has for me is more two drops, which I actually don't really need. I mean, again, May

Scornful Striker is fine, but it's not insane. Azula always lies is a decent

insane. Azula always lies is a decent combat trick in this configuration. June

works well with like the pox bearers I suppose. Um

suppose. Um there's a couple of swamp snare traps and a heartless act. So I would get some interaction, but it also just doesn't look especially strong. I'm going to take a look at my red to see if I have

anything that calls me in. Um especially

if there's allies. There's a deserter disciple.

Okay, red also looks pretty bad. Zuko is

not okay. You know what? It might be blue, but like let's look like what do I get if I decide to go blue white? Like

there's Air Nomad Legacy, which isn't particularly strong. Like, do I even

particularly strong. Like, do I even have any flyers? There's a Wii Tong, which is a cool combination to go with.

I'm not really interested in playing Geyser Leaper. Octopus form is a fine

Geyser Leaper. Octopus form is a fine trick. North Pole Patrol is a fine ally

trick. North Pole Patrol is a fine ally as well.

Water bending lesson. Okay, double lost days is fine.

I mean, again, this is not super deep, but I at least get to play the best card in my pile, which is the Wii Tong.

Some card draws, Rowdy Snowballers, if I want to curve out.

I don't know. I mean, again, like I said, this is kind of a rough pool, but you know what? Let's take a look at a blue white deck and so see what we got.

All right, so these are the cards that I kind of like on the left, and then I do need to cut six cards. Um, I actually think Aeronomad lo legacy is quite bad.

I literally have one flyer. So, I just don't think it's worth it to play a like I can also play other bad flyers in the geyser leaper and the um iguana parrot,

but I don't think I want to do that.

Master Pacu looks pretty bad. Flexible

water bender looks pretty bad.

And we are pretty light on interaction here as well. So, I might play Sand Bender Storm even though I don't love it.

I guess I shouldn't rule out the chance of like playing this only because I don't have enough playables here. I I

don't Maybe I shouldn't rule out the like flyer package like bad flyers plus the air nomad legacy.

Man, I wish I had more flyers. Like I

wish I had just like the gliders or something, you know? Yeah. I mean I I looked at my black option here and it just doesn't look that impressive. It's

just like more two drops than a heartless act. Azoula always lies in a

heartless act. Azoula always lies in a swamp snner trap. And I do feel like my while my blue isn't deep, it does just give me access to like card draw and two

copies of Lost Days and Wii Tong. And I

think that probably goes a long way.

So now I just need to figure out which cards I want to cut here.

We have 16 creatures with the battle fan. So 17. So our creature count is

fan. So 17. So our creature count is quite high. Again, I don't love iguana

quite high. Again, I don't love iguana parrot. I mean I mean it's just like is

parrot. I mean I mean it's just like is it worth it to play Air Nomad Legacy and the Flyers?

I'm going to try this just because it's such a low cost and I'm going to play the Flyers. I think Rowdy Snowballers is

the Flyers. I think Rowdy Snowballers is pretty replacement level and Sand Bender Storm is the other card to consider.

Although we'll note that I basically have no removal for big things. I can

tap things.

I can bounce a couple of things and I have airbending lesson and I have some flyers. So perhaps I need the

flyers. So perhaps I need the Sandbending Storm, in which case I do need to cut another creature.

I just think this card is too bad. Let's

just run this and see what happens. Um,

even split. Uh, it's a little bit tough cuz this is double white, but this is also double blue and this is double blue. So why don't just why don't we

blue. So why don't just why don't we just play nine of each and see where this goes. Although everything here is

this goes. Although everything here is white and all like this is like a card I don't really want to play early anyways.

And same thing with Wii Tong. Yeah,

actually, let's go one more white over blue. So, this gives us 10 white and

blue. So, this gives us 10 white and eight blue. And uh let's try again. Like

eight blue. And uh let's try again. Like

I said, my blue is not super deep, but it gives me the card draw that I that I need to let me kind of get to the lake.

All right, this deck isn't great. We'll

see how it goes. Now, before round one starts, I did want to say that if you've been enjoying all of this content and wanted to support the channel in a different way, I have a Patreon channel.

That's patreon.com/paulchion.

Big shout out to all the patrons here.

Really appreciate all of your support.

Access to the Patreon gives you access to a variety of different benefits, uh, which include access to my Discord channel along with access to monthly Patreon videos that I make and

potentially streams depending on the level. I I added a planes and a blue and

level. I I added a planes and a blue and I drew my two double blue cards. I don't

actually know if this is a keep to be honest, but I do have three planes and I have a play for turn two and turn three.

So, I'm hoping that that's enough to justify keeping this hand, but I'm not 100%.

I'm also not sure if I should have played the fan turn two or the deserters. Did they keep a onelander?

deserters. Did they keep a onelander?

They sure did.

I feel like the pox bearer like I'm happy trading with this so I mean, it would be justice if my opponent just like kept a onelander and lost. How on earth can you keep a

lost. How on earth can you keep a onelander? That That's just That's just

onelander? That That's just That's just insanity. You know what I mean?

insanity. You know what I mean?

All right, let's just maximize damage here.

That for five. Now, any land allows us to play geyser leaper. There is land number two. And there is a knowledge

number two. And there is a knowledge seeker. I see. Okay.

seeker. I see. Okay.

Yeah, attack with everything.

That's fine. That replaces itself.

They get a clue. But if they spend time to play a clue here, they're certainly not in great shape. I'll play the geyser leaper. I really want to play Wii Tong

leaper. I really want to play Wii Tong if I get to land number six because that turns that into a five. That allows me to draw two cards, which I think is super duper strong.

But here, I'm just going to attack with everything and see what happens.

I mean, what do they have? A quench.

What are you going to do? End of turn.

Crack the clue. Accumulate wisdom.

I don't think this counts as searching your library, right?

Yeah. So,

I mean, they are just dead, right?

Okay.

Yeah. Yeah. Don't try that at home, kids. Just mulligan.

kids. Just mulligan.

Just mulligan. I I don't care if you have a bunch of two drops. Like, one

landers often need more than one land, right? So, it's just too big of a risk.

right? So, it's just too big of a risk.

Unless you think your deck is so terrible, you need every resource to win. I don't know.

win. I don't know.

All right. Well, now we drew the three uh islands. I mean, totally fine.

uh islands. I mean, totally fine.

regular hand, but we have a totally fine regular deck for the most part. So, you

know, we have four lands, invasion reinforcements, pox bearers, and kyoshi warriors. And weuki

warriors. And weuki and here I will pass because they're leaving up quench or abandon attachments, I guess.

But I don't know that, right? So, let's

just do this. They pitch deadly precision.

Well, that's terrifying.

Okay. Well, them being on the play and having good mana plus bender water skin means I am in a lot of trouble here, friends.

A lot of trouble.

Let's play pox bears and play octopus or play the tap land.

Turn four at the crossroads. Let's go.

You know, I I might Oh, they missed.

That is actually insane.

So I'm wondering here like am I supposed what is it when it dies leaves the battlefield? Okay.

Like am I supposed to play crashing wave in this deck because I have I might have a tough time closing out games. I don't

know. And my interaction is so light.

like sand bender storm wouldn't have even worked here, right? But I normally don't like crashing waves. So, I don't know.

Wow. Missing on A is super unlucky.

I will say they have to have another creature here, right? Like, oh, the amount of time that

right? Like, oh, the amount of time that they're spending thinking about this makes me think like, you know, do they have a wrath? Like, what is happening here? You know what I mean?

here? You know what I mean?

Now, if they kill the Suki, I will feel like it's less likely that they have a wrath. Of course,

wrath. Of course, they discarded Deadly Precision. They

might have another one here. Uh, what

they can actually do is sacrifice the fortune teller and flip the Yang.

Oh, no. This happens later. I see.

Three cards in hand.

They have four mana up.

Looks like they have a removal spell for Suki.

Otherwise, they wouldn't attack like this or block like this. What? Okay.

I still feel like they could have a wrath.

I really want to be able to play this card one day. I have not been able to pull it off. Watery grasp.

Barrel of blasting jelly.

Legend of Kuruk.

All right.

Well, we're going to force A to chump luck. Okay, so this is what we do. We

luck. Okay, so this is what we do. We

move this over here.

They have to block the Suki.

And they take eight damage.

And if they have a sweeper, they have a sweeper right?

So, they played two of among the better rares in the entire format. And uh you know, we played an octopus form in a Suki.

Um they absolutely need a sweeper here to actually be able to win this game.

And they didn't. All right. So, number

one, our opponent played a turn four and missed and then didn't really have much of a follow-up there despite having all that mana. And I cannot believe that we

that mana. And I cannot believe that we won that game. All right. Well, you know what? I'm just gonna I'm just going to

what? I'm just gonna I'm just going to play it as it lies here for now. Like I

don't want to mess up whatever voodoo I have with this deck. Let's just keep it going. Okay. Keep it going.

going. Okay. Keep it going.

I'm already happy that I have two wins.

Okay. All right. On the play here. Yeah.

Going to keep this South Pole Voyager. Very, very nice with Suki.

And I should probably just run it out turn two. Like if it dies, it dies. It's

turn two. Like if it dies, it dies. It's

just a good card.

And I don't have any other two drops.

Now I would love to have a play on turn three. Right now I have nothing.

three. Right now I have nothing.

Blue red. Okay, so they're going to kill this. Fair enough. Lightning strike. I

this. Fair enough. Lightning strike. I

gained a life though. So So who really is up on the exchange? Huh?

This guy.

Yeah. I mean, look, this is still a totally reasonable curve. fan into Suki into Oh, that's a Saka lateral strategist. All right. Well, going to

strategist. All right. Well, going to play Suki next turn. I'm actually not sure what I

next turn. I'm actually not sure what I want to do. Like, well, I guess it kind of depends on what they do, but like I guess this is not an ally, so I can technically play technically play

it, but this puts so much more pressure on my opponent that I feel like I should play this. You know what I mean? So, if

play this. You know what I mean? So, if

I play this and put a counter here, this turns into a 35 and then a four five because this is in play and then a five5

uh once I get the token in play. So,

that's pretty good.

Blue, blue, red, the threecolor deck with Saka. Okay, they must be heavy

with Saka. Okay, they must be heavy blue. Actually, no, that's not even

blue. Actually, no, that's not even necessarily the case. People just play whatever.

It feels like they probably have like a watery grasp and they might be interested in targeting Suki, in which case I obviously can't really attack.

No, it's an earth rumble to kill my battle fan.

What's happening here?

Oh, you can make anything fight.

I didn't know that. Okay.

So, once again, if I play this, this has three power, then four power.

Yeah, let's do that.

Is it actually worth attacking or do I just want to keep this back? They get to eat a 1-1.

Yeah, let's attack. Oh, let's attack.

I get in for four. If they somehow like find a way to um get the Earth Kingdom Soldier out of the way to get in with the Saka, like I'm still going to be able to get a pretty big attack in next

turn with the Enthusiast. And then that also pumps. So, I think this is okay.

also pumps. So, I think this is okay.

And it's still pretty hard to kill a four or five on this board. like

it has to be like a bounce spell or something maybe or if they play like a land and play firebending lesson. But if they do that

firebending lesson. But if they do that then the Saka wouldn't be able to draw a card. So I think that's also okay.

card. So I think that's also okay.

And now we're at the phase where any of the uh those expensive cards, you know, the five mana bounce spell, I swear I'll get it before the world championship. Um

Wani tongue of course and um the water bending spell that like lets you draw seven cards. All would be happy happy

seven cards. All would be happy happy draw steps here. All right, land drop number five. Opponent using every single

number five. Opponent using every single ounce of their clock. So, they have some good options here.

I'm hoping they have bad bad options.

Okay, lost days. I certainly want the Suki and they can't attack me. Oh, by the way, this has vigilance, so that is huge.

I kind of want to draw cards, right?

Avatar Enthusiast doesn't seem super strong here, right? They have three cards.

I mean, it is still pretty good, but this seems like a really good opportunity to play this. I can I can play No, I can't play both.

Okay.

I kind of Here's the question. Do I want to tap two or do I care about the extra land? I think I care about the extra

land? I think I care about the extra land. So, let's just

land. So, let's just pay the two here.

Deck.

Yeah. Now, paying the two is important because next turn I can go enthusiast plus four drop and then just kind of like start building up my team. So, this

is a really good turn if my opponent has a bounce spell. I mean, they already fired off a lost days, but if they have another way to deal with the Earth Kingdom Soldier, this is this is a way

for them to kind of snowball this game.

Um, my issue was that like by playing the Avatar Enthusiast, I just felt like I left mana at the table and Okay, that's a tough.

All right, that's a really good card.

These are much better cards than what I've been playing. I'll tell you that much.

But we do have the affforementioned nice big expensive cards. So,

Lost Days is very good here. Sure.

You do have to discard. It ain't free.

There's a land. So, they have lost days and first time flyer. They can pump that up. Sure. That is a one two.

up. Sure. That is a one two.

So, this has vigilance and I have a pretty good attack here. So, I'm just going to do that.

All right. They're at eight life.

Let's play Avatar Enthusiasts.

And if I play Suki, it's going to be a 34.

I'm going to have a 3 four and a three.

They can lost phase one of these.

But I should be able to block the Saka, which is pretty important here.

So, yeah, let's play it.

All right. So, we have a nice board, but they obviously have the really cool rare that I can't kill.

And uh yeah, you know what? Like, we do have a couple of bounce spells. Maybe we

find it.

Now, the Koshi Warriors also pumps my Avatar Enthusiast. So, that's going to

Avatar Enthusiast. So, that's going to be a 66 when it attacks. I I I don't know how aggressive my opponent wants to get here with the Lost Days. Now, with

the tophen played, they will attack me with a five token there as well. But

again, um the Saka, it's not like the Saka gets in for a big attack. You know,

they can target my Suki. Oh, okay. Sure.

Oh, wow. They can also cast lost day still. Insane.

still. Insane.

Insane.

Great divide guide. Jeez.

Okay, so now they have lost days available and they're going to cast it.

Okay.

and they can make a 66 land. So, I do need to be mindful of that.

Um, so the Avatar Enthusiast is actually a fine attack. Uh, if they This is actually tricky.

Oh, no. But they would have to Well, no, they have all these allies tap for mana, too. So, that's what makes this kind of

too. So, that's what makes this kind of tricky.

Like I'm wondering where I'm supposed to move the fan.

So this becomes a six power creature and then I make a thing and that pumps.

If I move it here though, I guess I move it onto the enthusiasts.

Like if they bounce us, it's fine.

I can also just make like a really big attack 21 to 8.

If I make a really big attack, they block.

So if I attack with this, this becomes But the problem is I think the only really safe attack I have is with the Avatar Enthusiasts.

So I think I just do that. Yeah,

land there. Not ideal. I would love a Wii Tong. Like our deck is so kind of

Wii Tong. Like our deck is so kind of medium. I really need to draw my good

medium. I really need to draw my good cards. I have two blue. I have Wii Tong

cards. I have two blue. I have Wii Tong and the draw seven cards blue card or a bounce spell lost days. That would be great. But this whole like lost days to

great. But this whole like lost days to great district great divide guide nonsense lessons value deck. It's going

to be hard to fight because I just don't have that many. I did cast a water bending lesson.

Okay, that's fair. And I do not want to draw the Avatar Enthusiast now.

Let's put that on the bottom.

And then so four or five blocks here, four four blocks here. I don't really know where

blocks here. I don't really know where to move this.

Like I don't foresee them hitting me with their land, but having just like a million four fours also seems or four power creatures seems pretty good against Saka. So I'm going to do that.

against Saka. So I'm going to do that.

Yeah. I mean, look, they've they've got everything going here. We are extremely behind. The only thing that we have is

behind. The only thing that we have is we do have a little bit of time to find our card draw spell. So, like Wii Tong, I don't remember the name of the blue

sorcery that draws me a jabillion cards.

Those are the kind of like my two biggest outs. So, I'm still looking at

biggest outs. So, I'm still looking at 25 cards here. Well, I guess 24 because the Avatar Enthusiast are right here.

But, uh, in Unchoff again, Sand Bender Storm wouldn't have killed that.

And the more I think about my deck and what it needs to win, the more I feel like I should maybe consider playing the crashing wave. Again, that's not a card

crashing wave. Again, that's not a card that I love. It isn't, but it might be something that this deck just needs because it just lacks an like look at this. Like I'm playing against a deck

this. Like I'm playing against a deck with Tough and the Earth King in Great Divide Guide. Like, you know what I

Divide Guide. Like, you know what I mean? What am I supposed to do?

mean? What am I supposed to do?

There's not much.

So I think be given the the the weakness of my deck, I am going to look I should be looking to try and cheese my opponents out. That is my my plan. I am

opponents out. That is my my plan. I am

going to bring the cheese.

All the cheese.

What am I cutting though? I kind of like Earth Kingdom Soldier in this deck. I

got to figure out like is it just like a random ally? Do I cut the iguana parrot?

random ally? Do I cut the iguana parrot?

Like at this point, just drawing a removal spell is not even good.

Oh, what about a second Suki? That's

also not good. Well, maybe they're not drawing anything here because they're not attacking with anything else. So,

again, this is giving me some time, but literally any spell to gets better. They

have all the mana on the planet Earth.

So, yeah, this is legendary.

I suppose I could have attack with it and have it trade with something because I have the backup one.

I don't like but like am I happy trading Suki for a 44 bear? I don't know.

Okay, so they have a spell otherwise they wouldn't be looking. So that's

unfortunate. Okay, that's not a good draw.

>> I guess I have the backup Suki, so it's like not too bad.

Just kind of try to make things awkward for them. I don't know.

for them. I don't know.

Again, I'm only doing this because I have the backup Suki.

Gosh, I have so many bad draws in my deck. I literally like I'm literally

deck. I literally like I'm literally just crossing my fingers hoping to draw my two blue rares. That's it. And even

if I do, it's no guarantee that I'm going to win, right? It just give it's going to give me a chance.

Lost days would be really good as a way to answer that 66 island and draw a card. I have two of those. Yeah, my blue

card. I have two of those. Yeah, my blue cards are the cards that give me the action in my deck.

All right, they found a spell here, friends.

What do you have? Okay. Oh my gosh. You

know, they were holding that forever, right? They're like, "Okay, come on.

right? They're like, "Okay, come on.

Accumulate wisdom.

I just have no removal." Like, is this really is this really my best ch? Like,

I'm just my black God, my black didn't look that good either. I don't know. Here

good either. I don't know. Here

I am just questioning everything.

So they clearly have something.

Um, two cards.

I'm going to hold off on making any important decisions until later.

Actually, yeah, we we'll just we'll just hold off on it. Okay. You know what? It's on

on it. Okay. You know what? It's on

layaway. We'll figure it out. We'll

figure out what we want to do later.

Okay.

Like they clearly have some kind of spell or whatever.

Come on.

At least give me like a little bit of luck. Like, you know, just a little bit

luck. Like, you know, just a little bit of luck. I'll take some luck.

of luck. I'll take some luck.

Hey, legend rule. Two toughs in play.

Come on. Legend rule.

Oh yeah, this is this is getting out of hand here, friends.

I don't know, man.

Like, we're at the point where you tongue doesn't actually even matter.

Yeah, we we we we lose. We just we we just lose. All right. Um like I said,

just lose. All right. Um like I said, didn't have like too many hopes for this deck. We're at two wins. We need to find

deck. We're at two wins. We need to find some ways to cheese people out here. All

right, I'm I'm just going to cut the flying stuff and bring in giant koi, crashing wave,

and rowdy snowballers to lean into the ally angle and the tempo angle. Okay, and

we're cutting all the flying stuff.

Giant koi gives me another unblockable creature. Okay, gives me another

creature. Okay, gives me another unblockable creature. And I mean,

unblockable creature. And I mean, there's like trusty boomerang and barrel, but I just don't feel good about playing the barrel. Although, maybe I have to. No, let let's let's find let's

have to. No, let let's let's find let's let's uh Wow, English. Let's cheese our opponent out

with some random unblockable things.

Okay, I mean, we did cut two flyers, but I did add a giant unblockable creature.

Actually, is the giant unblockable creature better than the 43 flyer? I

don't even know. But if I'm not playing the um the enchantment, it's probably closeish. So,

closeish. So, well, we drew uh our two nonallies.

May scornful striker. Ooh, that's good.

We'll play that. It's a two three.

Okay, so they have Azula's whatever.

Fair enough. Um, what do I want to do?

Let's card giant koi.

So plus one plus one counter here and then that.

Nice try.

That was such an aggressive octopus form. Like I don't even I can't say that

form. Like I don't even I can't say that I'm a fan of that one.

They probably have a counter here. No.

Okay.

Okay.

removal spell on epic downfall. Wow.

Okay.

I mean, I'm not going to play this for the five mana, so let's just move this over.

Sure.

Wait, they didn't block the one the weird. Okay, they didn't block the one

weird. Okay, they didn't block the one one UA. Okay,

UA. Okay, I'm going to I'm going to play this now to not they're playing a blue deck. So,

I think it's super likely that they have a removal spell, but the way that I look at this is just like um I just want to make sure that this resolves and doesn't get idle quenched.

And if they kill this, I still draw two cards off of it. I mean, there's obviously also the chance that they just don't have the removal spell, right? So,

I think it was worth it to do that to uh not to play around quench, right? Token

down here.

That thing has vigilance. Okay. Would

love another card. Okay, that is a lost days.

I will fire that off here.

And I'm going to hold off on the South Pole of Voyager. Uh I'm going to crack the clue because you really, especially with how much mana I have, I want to wait till I can basically play two

allies at once. This card do not play in your whatever your mana base is. Okay,

I'm just telling you opponent, don't do it. This is this is not not advisable.

it. This is this is not not advisable.

All right, that is an ally. Seven, eight mana.

I think I'm happy with this trade. And

then we just play out a bunch of other things. So, I'm going to attack.

things. So, I'm going to attack.

They're at six. They're going to trade with the submersible. And then we'll go Southpole Voyager plus pretending fox bears.

All right.

They did draw the UA, which they'll play.

And I drew Earth Kingdom Soldier.

All right, let's just maximize the damage here.

Okay, they're at two life and we have three creatures. And let's see what

three creatures. And let's see what happens.

Boom.

Boom.

All right. All right.

All right. Okay. Mono white aggro hand.

I guess I'll keep.

There's an island at least. So, more uh outs to good draws here.

Don't play Jong John's deserters. Okay,

we have that.

Definitely don't want to land. I don't

want crashing wave here.

I mean, you should probably block. Okay.

No.

All right.

Suki. Okay,

it's a good one.

We do have the lost days and we're going to try to set up for that and take this damage. Then we can go double pox

damage. Then we can go double pox bearers.

>> We're kind of all in on the Avatar enthusiasts.

Like like I said, I don't love crashing wave. Like if my if my deck just has no

wave. Like if my if my deck just has no interaction and I am playing a low to the ground deck as a one of, I think it is okay. But if your deck has plenty of

is okay. But if your deck has plenty of interaction and a good curve, there is no need for a card like that. But we

don't have the pacifisms or the watery grasps. So that's why I'm playing it.

grasps. So that's why I'm playing it.

So, Suki certainly very strong here. Um,

I mean, if if they attack me with compassionate healer, I'll block with the pox bearers, right? They basically

both trade for a one-1. Guru Patik,

very good. And they hit an Italquencha.

Okay.

Rowdy Snowballers is certainly a very interesting find here.

So, they can kill the Avatar Enthusiasts here.

Um, I'm trying to figure out if like playing rowdy snowballers is better or if I just want to fire off Lost Days on the Suki.

I'm also just representing like infinite combat tricks.

So this is an interesting situation, right? Because they are aware of lost

right? Because they are aware of lost days and basically I have two options. I

can keep my avatar enthusiast alive by bouncing the compassionate healer and killing the guru Patik. And what that

will what that will give me is an enthusiast that's alive and they'll have two two-1 tokens and they have to replay this later. I think I just have to do

this later. I think I just have to do that otherwise my avatar enthusiast dies. So um and I think I want to kill

dies. So um and I think I want to kill this over the guru. So let's go ahead and do that.

And they were aware of this as well. So

it is what it is. But I get to keep my enthusiast at least.

Oh, wait. What?

Oh, this only triggers during their turn. I'm an idiot.

turn. I'm an idiot.

Once again, Paul Chion explaining or not explaining but showcasing to the world that he is incapable of reading Magic the Gathering cards. Unbelievable.

Unbelievable.

Sure.

I do not want island. I do have double blue cards, but I still don't want island. All right, so they take six. I

island. All right, so they take six. I

get to replay the enthusiasts.

And I have a great board, right? So,

that's good. If they play even one thing, uh, they're going to take a crap ton of damage. Okay, if they play two things, then Okay, if they play three

things, uh, I don't like my situation anymore.

And drawing that was also not good. Dang

it. Dang it. Dang it.

So, the enthusiast certainly gets in there. They're at nine life. The

there. They're at nine life. The

question is like how aggressive do I want to get if I attack with everything?

Yeah, I'm just attacking with everything.

Jang Jang's Deserters. H

I don't think it's good enough. So,

let's bottom it just because I have so many good draws in my deck.

Yep.

All right. They're at five life. I have

two pox bears and a North Pole patrol.

You see what I have to deal with, guys and gals? I know it's mostly guys. Do

and gals? I know it's mostly guys. Do

you see what I have to deal with? The

absolute nonsense.

You know what I mean? Unreal.

Unbelievable.

Giant koi was a good draw.

Well, they have to deal with the koi.

So, one, two, three, tap tap the Qatara.

Something like that. I am at 20 life, so I'm fairly safe. But, you know, they can obviously have a removal spell here.

They're doing a very good job of staying alive.

Path to redemption.

That makes me sad.

Uh, what do I want to tap?

The vigilance creature.

One two.

So, I'm doing this so that they have actually I don't even know why I did that then.

I don't think they have a they want to attack though. But yeah, the PL path to

attack though. But yeah, the PL path to redemption is very good. Glider staff is fine. Okay.

fine. Okay.

No. No deck. That is not what I want.

That is not what I'm interested in.

I want them to have less creatures in play because of Qatara and I still get to trade them in for one ones.

But this might be the second loss.

And this is going to happen a lot. Like

I don't care how good you are. This is

just going to happen a lot. Okay?

Like you're just going to get a lot of pools that don't get there. That is the nature of seal deck. It's just a numbers game. If you win at, you know, 65%,

game. If you win at, you know, 65%, you should still probably get a trophy every, you know, six or seven seals or six or seven runs.

Like getting to seven and one is tough.

Somebody run the numbers. Like if you have a 65% win rate, what is your chance of getting a box in any given run? 10%,

15%, I don't know.

Really need to find one of my card draw spells now.

Oh yeah, that's actually super good.

Yep.

Yeah. Yeah. That seems about right.

Seems, you know what? The giant koi gave me a little bit of hope, but the card quality of their deck was much, much greater than mine. And sadly, this is

probably the end of the line.

Sadly.

They're kind of like free rolling these attacks, too. Three, four, five, six,

attacks, too. Three, four, five, six, seven.

One two three four five six seven.

Okay.

So unsatisfying.

Well, not all the runs can be good ones, right? So, we got to keep we gota we got

right? So, we got to keep we gota we got to record this one and then hopefully in the next one we do better. We'll take

it.

Remember, they still have five cards in hand.

Rabaroo troop. Do they have two Rabberoo troops? Okay.

troops? Okay.

Well, sometimes you got to troop it up.

That is that is not what we're looking for here.

Okay, giant koi.

They've got a lot of land cyclingers in their deck. Holy cow.

their deck. Holy cow.

One two three four five six seven.

So I need to block one.

I mean, there's no card in my deck that saves me at this point.

You ever go to like you ever like, you know, you feel like you're making like good strides, you're going to the gym or something and you're like, you know what, you're kind of feeling yourself.

You're like, "All right, you have new you're making gains. You're you're at the top of your game, right? You know,

you just feel really strong and then you just show up and just like literally you just see somebody who's better than you in every single way. Yeah, that's what's happening here. Saka Qatara, Suki,

happening here. Saka Qatara, Suki, Glider Staff. Here I am playing

Glider Staff. Here I am playing Poxbearers. Like I'm just playing like

Poxbearers. Like I'm just playing like diseased allies and trying to get there, you know, trying to it's just it's just not there. It's just not there, you

not there. It's just not there, you know? And it's all good. Look, I got the

know? And it's all good. Look, I got the inferior Suki. GG's no Batman.

inferior Suki. GG's no Batman.

Oh no, no, no, no, that's not. There's

more na than that. But you know what?

It's okay. I'm gonna post this one. You

know why? We won three matches. We got

some gems and not, you know, not all of them can be good. And like I said, full disclosure, I am now I'm going to look it up here. I'm going to look it up. I'm

going to look at how many runs that we made. We have a 64% win rate, which is

made. We have a 64% win rate, which is not super high, but admittedly, generally speaking, my seal deck win rate is a little bit lower than my average win rate, which usually isn't kind of in the high 60s, but I'm at 64%.

I've played eight hours, I have two boxes, and I've played 2 4 6 8 10 12.

So, I've played 12 sealed decks and I have won two boxes, which is still not bad, I don't think, but it takes a lot of time. Like some people are going to

of time. Like some people are going to run better than average and get four boxes in 10 attempts. Uh and sometimes it's going to take a long a lot longer.

So we're two for 12. It takes a while.

You know, we have a three- win finish, a five- win finish, another five- win finish, and two other three- win finishes. So, we've been trying to get

finishes. So, we've been trying to get some gems. It's like if you don't have a good run, you try to get some gems back and you move forward. And that's kind of what we're expecting to do. And

honestly, given my pool, three wins is more or less kind of what I expected, right? three and two 60% win rate with like a wii tongue and two like

no removal okay curve I have to play crashing waves and rowdy snowballers you know what I mean like this just didn't quite like it's just so easy for this deck to get overwhelmed and I just don't

think we had power anywhere across the board right we had more two drops we could have played in black our green cards were no good we had an Iro but we simply just didn't have enough cards in

like blue green or red to even make this work. So,

work. So, you know, it is what it is. You know

what? I have time. I'm just going to quickly build a blue green red deck and see if I was just straight up wrong.

Yeah, this deck also sucks. I This deck has even less inter like I have I have two lost days and a firebending lesson on the splash for the Iro. I have master pacu. I have very few lessons actually

pacu. I have very few lessons actually for master pacu. So, it's simply just a two mana one three. Um, I mean this this

deck is a mess, too, right? It's just

not good enough at all. So, I just think this was just kind of an unfortunate pull. I think we just needed to be like

pull. I think we just needed to be like some kind of white aggro deck. I think

the other consideration was like a white black aggro deck. But again, I don't think it would have moved the needle that much. I simply believe that we were

that much. I simply believe that we were a little bit overmatched in terms of power level in terms of what we opened.

And basically I wanted to play the white creatures for good mana curve and I wanted to play the blue cards for potentially things to do in the late game. Right? So that includes drawing,

game. Right? So that includes drawing, you know, I had two I had basically three card draw spells in blue, right? I

didn't find them in some of the games that I lost and then two lost days and that's basically all I had. And I was hoping that that was going to be enough to carry us to where we needed, but sadly it was not. And we go home with a

disappointing 3-2 finish. But fear not, I have many more matches to play by the end of this weekend. I am hoping to have at least 20 attempts at all of this. So,

we're 12 in. Hopefully, we can get eight more and maybe one or two more trophies before we finish this run. Anyways,
